One of the most beautiful things about a hike or summit tour is taking an enjoyable break at one of the huts and mountain pastures in the Stubai Valley. Wonderful sun terraces and rustic parlours, often with a cosy wood-burning stove, are inviting places to relax after your exercise in the mountains. You will have then earned something hearty or something sweet, ideally something from both. “Brettljause” (Ploughman’s lunch), dumplings, “Kasspatzln” (spaetzle with cheese), apple strudel, “Kaiserschmarren” (sweet cut-up pancake with raisins), warm cake from the tray...; the essence of the typical regional cuisine is revealed in the huts and alpine pastures of the Stubai Valley. Often milk, butter and cheese come directly from the farmed alpine pasture. The eggs and meat come from the farms in the valley.
The hosts of the huts and alpine pastures in the Stubai Valley always love the opportunity to win over their guests with their culinary craftsmanship.
