Adventure and action from the peaks to the valley

in the family paradise of Stubai

As in winter, the Stubai Valley is also a paradise for families in summer - the perfect mix of nature, adventure and time together. Child-friendly accommodation, a varied family programme and numerous attractions on the mountain and in the valley ensure unforgettable holidays for young and old. The "BIG Family Stubai" is a special programme tailored to families with children.

BIG Family Stubai Summer Club: Leisure fun, games and stays in nature

In the BIG Family Stubai Summer Club, children from the age of four and teenagers from the age of ten experience exciting adventures in the middle of the Tyrolean mountains from Monday to Friday. The younger guests discover nature with the mascots ‘Spinnfried’ and ‘Konrad the bug’, go on a treasure hunt or gain their first riding experience while riding ponies. For older children, there is an action-packed outdoor programme with climbing tours, adventures in the Adventure Park, canoe rides or on the summer toboggan run - plenty of fun and entertainment is provided.

Four mountain railways – unforgettable experiences

On the Stubai Glacier, families enjoy the summer in a high alpine setting. Directly at the mountain station of the Eisgratbahn, visitors immediately notice the huge wooden mammoth and an original replica of a wooden snow groomer. They are the special playground equipment at the large adventure playground at an altitude of almost 3,000 metres. Children are enthusiastic about climbing, sliding and discovering the impressive constructions. Another highlight is – in the truest sense of the word – the TOP OF TYROL viewing platform at an altitude of 3,210 metres. From there, on a clear day, an impressive panorama of the surrounding mountains opens up to the Dolomites in South Tyrol.

At the Schlick 2000 hiking centre in Fulpmes, the adventure for families begins with a relaxing gondola ride to the Kreuzjoch mountain station. A detour to the "StubaiBlick" platform with its legends and the impressive view is rewarded here, as is a visit to the Kreuzjoch Panorama Restaurant with playground and sun terrace, which invites you to have a little refreshment. Afterwards, the interactive Nature trail leads down before it goes via the Disc trail (“Scheibenweg”) to the middle station, where the treehouse trail (“Baumhausweg”) starts. After a short ascent with the Galtbergbahn, Tyrol's first Slide trail with several slides shortens the descent back into the valley - a highlight for young and old excursionists.

Directly in the field of view of the Schlick 2000 in Mieders, the Serlesbahnen take young and old comfortably to the Koppeneck mountain station, where action and relaxation alternate. A family-friendly network of trails with beautiful views and King Serli's nature experience trail bring children closer to flora, fauna and the mountains in a playful way. In the Serlespark, water and play areas invite you to let off steam, while a leisurely ride on the Serles train to the Maria Waldrast monastery provides quiet moments. At the end, the popular summer toboggan run takes you down into the valley at speed - pure driving pleasure included.

On the Elfer, Neustift's local mountain, the new "ELFERCOASTER" rail toboggan run will delight action lovers of all ages from summer 2026. Directly at the mountain station of the Elferbahnen, it provides pure roller coaster feeling with roundabouts and steep curves - in any weather and all year round. Right next to it is the largest walk-on sundial in the Alpine region. It is the starting point for informative themed trails that provide insights into nature, time and the development of the earth. Along the way, cosy huts and alpine pastures invite you to enjoy regional specialities and let your gaze wander over the Stubai mountains.

BIG Family Week 2026

The annual highlight of the Stubai Valley's summer programme of events is the BIG Family Week, which takes place this year from 27 to 31 July. Every day, families can participate free of charge in a varied program with entertainment, music and hands-on activities in a different hiking area of the valley. Whether magical performances, funny theatre moments or varied outdoor activities - the BIG Family Week transforms the Stubai Valley into an adventure week for children and parents. The atmospheric finale on Friday will be a big celebration with a children's rock concert at Lake Kampl in Neustift.

The Family Card – for a relaxing summer

For an all-round carefree summer, many hotels offer professional childcare directly on site. In addition, numerous hotels, apartments, farms and guesthouses are partner businesses of the BIG Family Stubai and give their guests access to the BIG Family Stubai Summer Card. Families with children under the age of 15 benefit from many attractive services such as free rides on the mountain railways and transfer services to free admission to swimming pools as well as discounts at popular excursion destinations such as the Telfes Birds of Prey Park.
